There are so many things the Holy Spirit wants to do in your life. We have spent this week meditating on some truth about the Holy Spirit. Have you ever asked yourself how it is possible to obey the Word of God? Our human nature is not always propelled to follow the instructions of the Bible, and at times, you might have even felt guilty because as a born again believer you long to do what God asks you to do and you are not able to do it. Well, I have good news for you.
One of the names of the Holy Spirit is that he is your helper. He helps you in many ways, but one of the ways he helps you it that helps you to obey the Word of God. Look at today’s verse, Ezekiel 36.26-27. I like the NLT version:
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT)- “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”
Notice what the Lord is saying through his prophet Ezekiel: I will give you a tender heart, a responsive heart! What an amazing promise. But sure of this: it is not merely a promise. It is a fact! When you were born again, the Father has given you a new heart and a new spirit. You became a new person. You have received the love nature of God in your spirit and now, you have also received power to resist your flesh and to obey God.
When your mind or your flesh says no, you stand by faith and tell your flesh: “I am born again believer. I am a child of God. I’m filled with the Holy Spirit. I am more than a conqueror, and I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the Word of God. I therefore obey God and I will not listen to my flesh.”
As you do that, you will sense a boldness, inside of you, that comes from the Holy Spirit. You will speak to your flesh with authority, with assurance, and with confidence; and then, start to obey the Word of God.
Say this prayer with me today:
Lord give me information, inspiration, impartation and revelation from the Holy Spirit.
