Psalm 91:1-3 – Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,     my God, in whom I trust.” 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

This portion of the Bible is very clear. Yes, it is possible to live free from fear in this dangerous and hostile world. God’s protection is part of his dealing with us. He promises to protect us and we should absolutely believe Him. Who is this promise offered to? There are many whosoever scriptures in the Bible. “Whosoever shall say to this mountain”… “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord”… But here, it is not a whosoever Scripture.

It is a special promise given to special people. It is given to “he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High”, in other words, it is offered to those who dwell and continue to dwell in God. That is, to those who continuously live in close fellowship with Him, with His Word and walk in obedience to his Voice.

If you dwell in God, in His Word, and you obey His voice, you can live fear free. You can live in a way that you are not afraid of what the devil would do to you, because the father protects you. Of course, it does not mean that we will not be bothered by the devil. But it means that God will always find a way to escape each time the devil comes too close to you.

Do not be afraid of life’s perils. Stand in faith. Dig in the Word of God. Pray until peace and trust in God reign in your heart. Draw close to God, dwell in Him, dwell in His Word, and obey His voice. He will be with you. He will give you faith and peace in the midst of trouble.
