Psalms 15:1-5 – LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3. He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
Many times when we are under pressure we are temped to lie in order to escape consequences. At other times, we find it painful to tell the truth to someone because we fear to hurt that person. But telling the truth can save someone’s life, help that person change course and improve her life forever. What keeps us honest? Integrity. Our character must be maintained by a strong biblical based integrity.
Integrity means that I will tell the truth whatever the consequences. I will bless my life when I speak with integrity. Integrity means to walk uprightly and rightly. Integrity means that I will speak the truth in my heart and in my mouth. What is integrity? Integrity is total harmony between your spirit, your soul and your body. Integrity means, I am what I am, I think like I am, and I speak like I am. Remember the Apostle Paul said: “I am what I am by the grace of God”. This is integrity. Everything in you is in full harmony. Your soul thinks like your spirit; your body acts like your spirit, your spirit talks and your whole being follows.
So, how do you go about developing a life of integrity? Maintain your communication with your Heavenly Father and continue to feed your spirit with the Word of God so that you will not give in in the day of evil. Stand by your inner convictions that are grounded in the Bible. Choose to be an honorable person that walks uprightly and in integrity. This will change you into a good person, a person of her word… And remember this: before you can be a person of THE Word, you need to be a person of YOUR word.
