God the Holy Spirit #1

There is something about the Holy Ghost that we need to rediscover. Because of a lack of knowledge of the Holy Spirit, many believers are frustrated, defeated and fruitless. Many are unaware of the great resources available to them through the Holy Spirit. So, let us start this week with several meditations on the Holy Spirit. Why? Because there is an amazing potential for the born again believer to live supernaturally through the third person of the Trinity. Open your bible and read John 14.16 & 26

John 14.16 & 26 – And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 26 But the [c]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN TODAY FROM THIS SCRIPTURES?

  1. There was an original comforter. Jesus talks about another Helper, another comforter. The greek word is clear, it is another of the same kind. Like if you were to give me your apple, and I would give you back another apple, it would be another apple of the same type. So, Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit who is another helper of the same kind as a previous one. WHO? Jesus. The Holy Spirit is a helper to you the same way that Jesus was a helper to the disciples. That means, that you do not need to have Jesus side by side with you in the flesh. If you have the Holy Spirit, it is more than enough, because, he is the same type of helper as Jesus is.
  2. He is a disciple maker – The second thing we can directly see in these verses, is that like Jesus, the Holy Spirit is a teacher, a supervisor, an instructor. He is the perfect and most excellent disciple maker. Remember that they called Jesus, Rabbi? Well you can say the same thing about the Holy Spirit. He is your rabbi for today..

We also see the principal method of teaching of our comforter: 1) He will teach all things, 2) He will remind you all things that I said. This is the way He teaches us, by instructing us, by reminding us, that is by constant repetition. Like your teacher in school used to repeat over and over again so that you may know for sure what he or she was teaching you; the same ways, the Holy Spirit instructs you and then repeat over and over again all what you need to know.

So, what does He need from you to become your great helper? He needs you to receive His ministry to you. He needs you to attend your hear to his words, to receive his words, to meditate on what he tells you, and to practice and obey to His word… As you do that, you will enter into a wonderful new relationship with the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.
