You can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said: “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10.27). Which voice is He talking about? He is talking about the Voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God who comforts you, trains you, teaches you, leads you and guides you into all the truth. How? By speaking to you.

There are many voices in this world. Some are good, others are bad… only the Voice of the Holy Spirit will correctly guide you through life. You might wonder, “How can I hear his voice?” I’m so glad that you ask me the question. Let me give you some clear hints to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit.

The greatest preliminary to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit is to stay still and to wait upon Him. You need to shut down every other voice in your mind and wait upon the Lord. This said, let us see the main ways the Holy Spirit speaks to you.

The number one clear way the Holy Spirit uses to speak to you is through the Bible, the Word of God. Anything He will say to you is always in agreement with His Word. The Holy Spirit and the Word work together as a team. So, read His Word everyday, be keen to hear what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you.

Then as you read the bible, you will receive a witness in your heart. You will see truths and your heart tells you: “Yes, this is right”, “My spirit agrees with this”. And as you hear something, it will bear witness in your heart, in your spirit that this is so.

Then the Holy Spirit speaks to you through an inward voice. Some call it an intuition. It is a conviction inside your spirit that what you hear is from the Holy Spirit. Even if it looks absurd to your intellect, something inside of you tells you that it is right. This inward Voice teams up with your conscience that is renewed by the Word of God. By the way, let me give you a secret that will help you in life: Never transgress your conscience, and let no one force you to transgress your conscience.. follow the inward voice.

Then the Holy Spirit may speak to you with His own Voice. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit will directly speak to you. It will be a strong and authoritative witness in your spirit, or even sometimes an audible voice. But be careful, do not look after audible voices. It might come, but you should not look after it. Most of times, the Holy Spirit will speak directly to a person when things are urgent, or when he wants to move in a more supernatural way. For instance, when Peter had his famous Vision and was supposed to introduce Jesus to the house of Cornelius, the Holy Spirit said to Peter, “behold, three men seek you”.

Say this prayer with me today:

Lord give me information, inspiration, impartation and revelation from the Holy Spirit.
